RESEARCH METHODOLOGIST
(Full-Time position)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Through the Looking Glass and its National Center for Parents with Disabilities and their Families seeks an experienced researcher with strong expertise in research methodology and statistics for multiple research projects concerning families in which a parent or child has a disability. Position will have primary responsibility to oversee research methodologies, data collection and analyses of multiple national projects. Excellent opportunity for creative design and implementation of disability-related research.

AGENCY OVERVIEW:

Founded in Berkeley in 1982,Through the Looking Glass (TLG) is a nationally recognized non-profit agency that has pioneered services, training and research concerning families in which an infant, child, parent or grandparent has a disability. We have received numerous federal, state and regional grant awards as a model program for families with disabilities. We are a committed and supportive team working in a friendly and casual environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review multiple project research designs, and propose appropriate methodologies, data collection and analyses.
  • Design and implement quantitative and qualitative methodologies in conjunction with project directors.
  • Coordinate data files and ongoing data collection across multiple research projects.
  • Perform statistical computations and analyses of data from multiple research projects.
  • Summarize relevant findings including descriptive and multivariate statistical analyses.
  • In conjunction with project investigators, prepare reports, manuscripts and presentations to communicate research findings.
  • Define project outcome measures, evaluation criteria and evaluation indicators.
  • Conduct project evaluations and assessments, identifying problems in data collection methods and making recommendations for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct literature searches on families of parents and children with disabilities.

REQUIRES:

  • Graduate or doctoral degree in social/behavioral sciences, focusing on research methods or statistics.
  • Strong training and experience in research design, research methodology and quantitative analysis.
  • Knowledge of descriptive statistical techniques, multiple regression, analysis of variance and covariance, and hierarchical linear modeling of longitudinal data.
  • Minimum 3 years prior research experience.
  • Proven data analysis skills and statistical knowledge using SPSS; additional database software (e.g., FileMaker, Excel) highly desirable. Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Sensitivity to disability; strong interest in disability issues.
  • Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

This is a full-time grant-funded position, available ASAP. People of color and people with personal disability experience are encouraged to apply. Re-location expenses are not covered. Also, see TLG's website at www.lookingglass.org

Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Position includes paid Vacation, Holidays, Health & Dental Insurance.
