AccreditedOnlineColleges.org is a general information website with many resources useful to all people looking to further their education. The site discusses the offline and online educational paths one can follow to obtain a degree from an accredited institution.

For Students of Parents with Disabilities

  1. Obtain a copy of a scholarship directory from your local library. People can usually apply for scholarships under different categories (ancestry, faith, economic status, sports played, etc.).

  2. If you have been volunteering or involved with a particular organization, ask if the organization has any scholarships.

  3. Search the Internet or contact organizations that are directly related to your parent's disability. Some may offer scholarships specifically for family members.

  4. If your parent has MS, you may be eligible for a scholarship. National M.S. Society

  5. If your parent is a Paralyzed Veteran, you may be eligible for a scholarship. Paralyzed Veterans of America

  6. If your parent has cancer or is a cancer survivor, you may be eligible for a scholarship. Scholarships are not available through the national office, but through some specific community or regional offices.   7. If your parent is deaf or hard-of-hearing, scholarships are offered through Children of Deaf Adults (CODA) www.coda-international.org

  1. Contact a local, state or national organization that is specifically related to the student's disability; they might have their own scholarships

  2. Incight's yearly Scholarship Application - For students entering and attending college. Can be renewed annually for up to four years. This scholarship is available nationally for any trade school, college or university within the United States.

  4. 180Medical Scholarships - Five $1,000 scholarships are offered to students who have spinal cord injuries, spina bifida or transverse myelitis

  5. Proyecto Visión's Scholarship Opportunities - Includes scholarships that are specifically aimed at Latinos and students with disabilities. Includes scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies. Most of them are available nationwide.

  13. 1800Wheelchair.com Scholarship - Awards two $500 scholarship each year to students who are 16 years old and older. Students must be enrolled at an accredited high school, college or university in the U.S.
